Cable Technician

We are seeking a Communications Technician II to join our team. This role requires the ability to perform all technical responsibilities of a Cable Installer while also functioning as a member of a project crew. The Technician II will help coordinate small groups of installers, ensure daily tasks are completed safely and efficiently, and uphold all quality standards.

Job Responsibilities

+ Install work area outlets in floor, modular furniture, and wall environments (CAT3 & CAT5 terminations, proper mounting of faceplates and surface boxes, adherence to labeling standards).

+ Build and install telecom closets, including mounting backboards, racks, patch panels, cross-connects, fiber hardware, and grounding equipment.

+ Perform all necessary IDC connections (110/66 blocks, patch panels).

+ Conduct cable testing, including continuity tests for horizontal and riser cable; use a volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, shorts, crossed pairs, and other issues; and properly operate a tone set.

+ Identify active voice and data circuits.

+ Lead and coordinate a crew, including training installers and managing timelines to meet project requirements.

+ Complete all required documentation accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, etc.).

+ Adhere to all company, customer, and industry safety and quality standards.

+ Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Required Tools

Technician should possess:

+ Standard hand tools (regular/Phillips screwdrivers, drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips with sheath, needle-nose and channel lock pliers, hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves).

+ Punchdown tool with 110/66 blades, tone set, 6/8‑position combo crimp tool, and Krone/3M/BIX tools.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
