Dcs Case Manager

Position: DCS Case Manager 3 – Special Investigations Unit (Central Office Quality Compliance division). Eligible to be posted in Grainger, Jefferson, Sevier, Washington County.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree. Equivalent to two years of full-time professional work providing child welfare services, including social, psychological, or correctional counseling; case management; volunteer services coordination; or juvenile classification coordination.

• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age on the date of application;
• Be a citizen of the United States;
• Possess a valid driver's license prior to and during employment;
• Have a good moral character, as determined by investigation;
• Complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority;
• Have no conviction for a felony;
• Agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointing authority;
• Supply a fingerprint sample in a manner prescribed by the TBI for a fingerprint‑based criminal history records check;
• Submit to and pass a pre‑employment screening test for use of illegal drugs.

Responsible for professional case management work of considerable difficulty and lead work of routine difficulty. Leads and trains subordinates in the performance of case management work for children under State supervision, in State custody, or at risk of State custody, and their families.

• Serves as a mentor for less‑experienced case management staff, providing guidance and suggestions for difficult/multi‑faced cases and participating in multidisciplinary teams.
• Determines if abuse or neglect has occurred, identifies the abuser, evaluates risk, creates safety plans, and makes recommendations regarding permanency or termination of parental rights.
• Maintains documentation for case files, prepares for, participates in, and testifies at court proceedings.
• Conducts interviews with alleged child victims, reporters, families, and collateral contacts; gathers required information; administers client drug screens; and conducts assessments of homes.
• Works flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and after hours. Schedules appointments, visits, and transports children safely.
• Communicates effectively and timely with families, providers, and co‑workers to build trust, encourage clients, and explain relevant documents.
• Convenes and organizes Child and Family Team Meetings, developing action steps and goals.

State of Tennessee positions that may involve driving responsibilities require a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for the past five years.
