Hiring Salary: $20.65/Hourly
This is a grant-funded position funded until June 30, 2027. The funding may be extended pending funding availability.
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager for the Shelby County Relative Caregiver Program, the Family Advocate Counselor performs intakes, referrals, home visits, case management, maintaining client records (files), planning, organizing events, and facilitating the Boys/Girls mentoring group both in person and via zoom monthly. This position exists to support and assist caregivers in determining specific needs and obtaining needed support with projects resources through the network and/or other providers.
This position will allow hands-on contact with individuals and families through home and office visits.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree. (Transcript required)
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience working with children and families; OR Master's Degree and one (1) year of experience of experience working with children and families; OR a combination of education and experience to equal 6 years.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of community and social services resources.
- Ability to perform home visits. Must be able to work closely with families and program team members in a positive manner.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, etc.).
- Knowledge of local and state community resources and services.
- Ability to work with families and children in crisis.
- Ability to be empathic and a good listener.
- Ability to facilitate and manage group sessions.
- Ability to work independently, efficiently and to accomplish both routine and detailed tasks.
- Ability to be prompt, detail-oriented, courteous, efficient, and professional.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism as it concerns information about staff, families, and program matters.
License/Certification:
Valid Driver's License Required (Copy of license/certification required)
Work Schedule:
This position frequently works weekends and occasionally work evenings. This position requires travel within Shelby County, with occasional overnight travel.
