The Shift Supervisor oversees participation and payroll for each shift. The Shift Supervisor ensures participants’ duties are clearly stated and that participants are motivated to carry them out effectively. The Shift Supervisor must maintain a safe working environment for all participants, addressing concerns and hazards immediately. The Shift Supervisor meets bi-weekly with the Outreach Manager to discuss upcoming shifts, locations, goals and feedback.

The Hospitality Hub works to help people exit homelessness. Located in downtown Memphis, the Hub campus is a safe, kind, and respectful environment that serves as a single point of entry to comprehensive support services for those experiencing homelessness. We provide our guests with the stabilizing resources they need, including temporary shelter, assistance acquiring identification, employment opportunities, and referrals to community partners.

The Shift Supervisor meets bi-weekly with the Outreach Manager to discuss upcoming shifts, locations, goals and feedback.

* Note:

As a part of the Work Local Team, your role will fall under the umbrella of the Outreach Team as a whole. While WL Shift Supervisor will be your primary role, you may be called upon at times to provide support to the Street Outreach or Workforce Development teams. The Hub is a cohesive, collaborative team all working together to assist individuals on their journey to exit homelessness.

What is Work Local

The Hospitality Hub partners with the City of Memphis and other donors to address blight with clean up efforts across the city. Work Local provides opportunity for work and compensation to those experiencing homelessness in an effort to meet both immediate needs and foster development through case management towards long term goals and stability. Comprising 2 crews, Litter and Alley, the teams perform duties to clean blight and clear overgrown areas through landscaping and maintenance.

As team members interact with participants, the overarching goal is to build rapport while providing ongoing case management, support and access to resources. Through continuous engagement, the team works collaboratively with individuals to promote stability and assist them on their journey towards exiting homelessness.

Team Culture and Expectations: The Hub is a human first social agency meaning our goal is to decrease suffering for the person in front of us while simultaneously building systemic solutions. While the primary responsibilities of the position are outlined below, we expect all staff to be flexible and available to respond to emergencies and fulfill programmatic responsibilities which may require working holidays, weekends, evenings, or nights.

Additionally, the Hospitality Hub serves people who have experienced discrimination, violence, and other traumatic events. Many Hub clients and guests are healing from trauma related to their marginalization. It is critically important that all members of the Hub team maintain a hospitable and welcoming environment by remaining calm and kind when clients are feeling frustrated.
