ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Works under the direction of an assigned manager to support the Gun Violence Intervention Program (GVIP) by providing data-driven intelligence to identify, prevent, and disrupt violent crime, with a focus on gang and group-related shootings. Collects comprehensive data on firearm‑related incidents, including homicides, non‑fatal shootings, aggravated assaults, and related violent events. Analyzes incident data to identify trends, patterns, contributing factors, and emerging threats affecting community safety.

Maintains accurate, organized, and up‑to‑date datasets, case files, and intelligence logs to support ongoing investigations and program operations. Utilizes geospatial mapping tools to identify hotspots, micro‑locations, retaliation cycles, and geographic patterns of violence. Identifies gangs, crews, and informal groups involved in violent activity and monitor their dynamics, conflicts, and affiliations. Tracks victim and suspect demographics, group associations, and interpersonal conflicts to support proactive intervention and prevention strategies.

Monitors social media platforms and open‑source information to detect threats, violent messaging, escalating disputes, and high‑risk events such as short‑term rental gatherings. Assesses online content such as posts, lyrics, videos, and live streams for indicators of potential violence or retaliation. Produces intelligence briefings, threat assessments, bulletins, and weekly reports for command staff, GVIP teams, and partner agencies. Collaborates with law enforcement, community partners, outreach workers, and analysts to share intelligence and support coordinated intervention efforts.

Supports program evaluation by contributing data for performance metrics, outcome reporting, grant compliance, and strategic planning. Develops visualizations, charts, and summaries that communicate complex data in clear, actionable formats for decision makers. Assists with special projects, research initiatives, and analytical tasks that enhance the effectiveness of GVIP operations. Ensures adherence to confidentiality, data‑handling standards, and ethical guidelines when managing sensitive information.
