ATHLETICS MANAGER

SALARY RANGE $67,736.00 - $71,718.00

Job Functions:

* Plan, implement, and evaluate youth and adult athletic leagues, clinics, camps tournaments, and special events.

* Ensure programs reflect industry best practices, including positive coaching, sportsmanship, equity and inclusion.

* Develop policies, rules, and guidelines to ensure fair and safe play across all programs.

* Monitor program participation and trends to expand offerings and meet evolving community needs.

* Oversee scheduling and use of athletic fields, courts, and complexes to maximize availability while preserving turf and facility quality.

* Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure facilities are safe, accessible, and well-maintained.

* Assist in planning capital improvements and recommending facility upgrades.

* Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate part-time staff, officials, scorekeepers, and volunteers.

* Provide ongoing professional development in coaching, officiating, customer service, and safety standards.

* Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

* Ensure compliance with department policies, insurance requirements, and recognized safety standards.

* Implement concussion protocols, emergency action plans, and first aid procedures.

* Conduct regular facility and program safety inspections.

* Serve as liaison to community sports organizations, schools, and local leagues.

* Work with the Marketing Specialist to promote programs through marketing, outreach, and public presentations.

* Develop partnerships to expand participation, sponsorship, and resource-sharing opportunities.

* Prepare and manage annual athletic division budget, including program revenues and expenditures.

* Track registrations, fees, and program statistics.

* Secure sponsor ships, grants, and other resources to support athletic programs.

* Prepare reports and presentations for departmental leadership, advisory boards, and elected officials.

Qualifications:

* Knowledge of principles and best practices in parks and recreation, youth development, and adult sports management.

* Knowledge of rules, regulations, and current trends in a wide range of recreational sports.

* Excellent communication skills and strong organizational skills.

* Excellent interpersonal skills, anility to work collaboratively with a variety of individuals.

* Proficient in recreation management software, scheduling systems, and standard office applications.

* Sound understanding of sports development and programming for a municipality.

* Ability to work evening and weekend hours.

Job Functions:

* Required to work seamlessly across the department, providing assistance whenever needed to ensure the successful fulfillment of Parks & Recreation's mission.

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's Degree in Recreation or related field with a minimum three (3) years' experience in supervising youth and adult recreational sports programs and activities.

Special Requirements :

* Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) through the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) is preferred

* National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS), Positive Coaching Alliance, or equivalent certification is desirable

* Must successfully pass a drug screening and a basic physical from a City of Bartlett approved examiner.

* Work is performed in both office and outdoor recreation settings in varying weather conditions.
