The Medical Equipment Transportation Technician is responsible for delivering, picking up, and maintaining all types of medical equipment, ensuring safe usage, training staff, and communicating with healthcare personnel.
Job Responsibilities- Delivers, picks up, and sets up medical and related equipment to necessary facilities as assigned, including for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Assures equipment is operating safely and training is completed.
- Performs cleaning and disinfecting of all medical equipment being stored and transferred.
- Completes preventative maintenance, repairs, and cleaning on delivery vans and warehousing facilities.
- Participates in quality monitoring and evaluation activities and implements measures to meet hospital, DNV, OSHA, DOT, and other quality and safety standards.
- Performs other job functions as assigned.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Medical equipment transfer, storage, and cleaning experience, 1–3 years (Required)
- Class A Commercial Driver License – Arkansas Motor Vehicle (Required)
- Class D Driver's License – Arkansas Motor Vehicle (Preferred)
- Class B Commercial Driver License – Mississippi Motor Vehicle (Preferred)
- Class B Commercial Driver License – Tennessee Motor Vehicle (Preferred)
- Class D License with F – Tennessee Motor Vehicle (Preferred)
- Class A Commercial Driver License – Mississippi Motor Vehicle (Preferred)
- Class D Driver License – Tennessee Motor Vehicle (Preferred)
- Class A Commerical Driver’s License – Tennessee Motor Vehicle (Preferred)
- Class R Driver's License – Mississippi Motor Vehicle (Preferred)
- Class B Commercial Driver License – Arkansas Motor Vehicle (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of supplies, logistics, warehouse, or related equipment.
- Some computer skills will be required.
- Ability to understand moderately complex written materials, such as geographical maps, patient records, manufacturer specifications, and preventative maintenance recommendations.
- Ability to communicate verbally with associates, vendors, and others.
- Qualified to be insurable by Methodist Healthcare’s insurance company for driving a delivery vehicle.
- There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job.
- The position may involve climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- Heavy physical work – exerting up to 100 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. frequently.
- Requires close visual acuity for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, or extensive reading.
- May require visual acuity to assess accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work.
- Frequent invasive and non‑invasive patient contact.
- Exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous or poisonous materials.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
