The Brokerage Service Representative is responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely movement of freight by coordinating shipments between customers and carrier partners. This role requires exceptional customer service, strong communication skills, and the ability to proactively manage freight operations while maintaining high service standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service
  • Deliver best-in-class customer service to customers, carriers, and business partners.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and carrier networks.
  • Communicate shipment updates, delays, and delivery status in a timely and professional manner.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries and resolve service-related issues.
  • Ensure all communications are handled professionally and accurately through the appropriate channels.
Brokerage Operations
  • Coordinate and schedule freight shipments with approved carrier partners.
  • Source and negotiate transportation capacity to meet customer requirements.
  • Track and trace shipments from pickup through final delivery.
  • Proactively monitor loads and communicate updates, delays, or service issues to customers.
  • Verify carrier compliance, insurance requirements, and operational qualifications.
  • Enter and maintain accurate shipment information within company systems.
  • Process freight documentation, rate confirmations, and proof of delivery (PODs).
  • Resolve delivery exceptions and work with carriers and customers to ensure successful shipment completion.
  • Assist with load planning and capacity management to maximize efficiency and profitability.
  • Ensure all brokerage activities comply with company policies and transportation regulations.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, carrier communications, and customer interactions.
  • Review shipment documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support invoicing and billing processes as needed.
  • Complete daily workflow reviews and address outstanding issues before the end of each shift.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, or customer service preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management systems (TMS) preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of freight brokerage, carrier operations, and transportation regulations is a plus.
