Job Description
Drive and deliver metal roofing, components, and building systems to customers in a safe and timely manner using a tractor‑trailer. Responsibilities include parcel unloading, route scheduling, vehicle inspections, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
Job Details
- Base pay starts at $28.50 per hour
- Shift: Full Time Day Shift
- Transport, deliver, and unload metal roofing to dealers, distribution centers, and construction job sites.
- Assist in unloading products using a Moffett to customer location or returning products.
- Deliver material in “route truck/multi‑drop” fashion per federal regulations.
- Apply commercial driving knowledge, maneuver vehicle at varying speeds in traffic, weather, and tight docking areas.
- Maintain records required for compliance: driver logs, fuel purchases, mileage, and other legal documents.
- Perform all duties per company policies and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
- Answer questions about packing lists, invoices, packaging, and material content; refer to appropriate contacts if unsure.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
- Maintain cleanliness and integrity of vehicle and equipment.
- Report required repairs/maintenance promptly.
- Ensure DOT compliance.
- Perform general warehouse duties during non‑delivery times (loading, maintenance, production tasks).
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
- Acceptable accident and moving violation motor vehicle record.
- 2 years of tractor‑trailer flatbed driving experience, including winter driving (military DD214 acceptable).
- Valid medical card.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to work with precision and control in hazardous situations.
- Attention to safety, prevention of injury to others.
- Physical ability to stoop, bend, stand for long periods and lift 40‑50 lbs.
- Maintain alertness and safe operation.
- Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment.
