Summary
This position serves as a Warehouse Worker located within the Warehouse area of the Logistics Service in the Veterans Affairs Health Care System, performing work that involves handling and/or overseeing one or more product lines, a segment of a large warehouse, or may serve as the senior employee in a smaller warehouse or supply facility.
QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement – 07/06/2026. A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of this position. Evidence must be supported by detailed descriptions in your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
The potential eligibles are then rated against the job elements such as Dexterity, Safety, and other specifications.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Applicants must indicate clearly the duties, responsibilities, and hours for each position to receive credit.

Warehouse experience, customer service, and ability to multi‑task.

Working Conditions:
Work involves considerable walking, pushing and pulling carts, loading and unloading trucks, lifting and handling boxes weighing over 40 pounds, and using equipment and vehicles that can exceed 100 pounds. You may need to operate forklifts or hand trucks on uneven terrain. Working conditions include hot, cold, drafty, or poorly lit storage buildings; outdoor duties on docks; and exposure to hazardous materials.
Personal protective equipment may be required.
- Develops and implements storage plans for assigned area(s) and arranges for movement of supplies between warehouse locations.
- Consolidates materials to maximize space utilization and protect materials.
- Coordinates incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials on docking areas.
- Selects specific storage locations within the framework of a general warehousing plan.
- Rotates stock, checks for outdated materials, and maintains appropriate safeguards and temperature controls.
- Handles transporting and warehousing materials, including hazardous, flammable, and temperature-sensitive products.
- Drives vehicles—trucks or vans not exceeding 4500 pounds vehicular weight—with electrical or hydraulic lift.
- Groups supplies in a logical and easy-access manner while ensuring maximum efficiency of space.
- Submits monthly reports, status updates, periodic monitors, and sets benchmarks.
- Coordinates all excess and turnover of equipment and materials.
- May serve as a senior member of a warehouse project team.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
