Materials Specialist

The Materials Management Specialist is responsible for the flow, tracking, and accuracy of materials, inventory, and supplies within the warehouse. This role ensures inbound and outbound shipments are processed efficiently, inventory records stay accurate, and stock levels support ongoing operational and production needs.

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips
• Maintain accurate inventory counts through cycle counts and periodic physical inventories
• Track material movement using warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP software
• Coordinate with purchasing, production, and shipping teams to ensure material availability
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in inventory, damaged goods, or shipping errors
• Organize and maintain warehouse storage areas for efficient space utilization and safety
• Prepare and process outbound shipments, including packing, labeling, and documentation
• Monitor stock levels and generate reorder requests to prevent shortages or overstock
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during material handling
• Support audits and generate inventory reports for management review

• Proficiency with WMS/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory tracking
• Forklift operation and material handling equipment experience
• Knowledge of inventory control methods (FIFO, cycle counting, ABC analysis)
• Organizational and time management skills
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar data tools
• Effective communication and cross-functional coordination
• Problem-solving skills for resolving supply chain or inventory issues
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards in a warehouse environment
