Electrical Engineer III – Overview

The Electrical Engineer III is responsible for performing electrical power, PV system design, and low voltage system engineering tasks for renewable construction projects under the direct supervision of an Engineering Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish construction standards and specifications.
  • Prepare and study technical drawings and electrical specifications to ensure installations and designs conform to standards and customer requirements.
  • Perform electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to develop equipment layouts, one-line diagrams, cable routing, communications systems design, grounding design, equipment selection, and equipment specifications.
  • Perform cable ampacity and trench design using software packages such as CYMCAP, ETAP, or Amp Calc.
  • Model grounding system design using the WinIGS software package.
  • Conduct field surveys and analyze diagram and other data to identify and correct power system problems.
  • Confere with internal and external customers to discuss existing or potential construction projects.
  • Provide guidance to ensure construction activities comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Inspect completed installations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications.
  • Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Provide electrical engineering for complex projects with minimal team‑leader oversight.
  • Participate in customer or project interviews.
  • Proactively provide guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 Engineers and Designers on project-specific tasks and identify other opportunities.
  • Provide training for other technical personnel in areas of expertise.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering, or associate degree in Electrical Technology, with 8–12 years of progressive electrical engineering experience.
  • Proficient use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • AutoCAD knowledge required.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Minimum 5–15% travel.
  • Typical work schedule Monday–Friday, 7:00a.m.–5:00p.m.; availability to work at any time to meet business needs.
