The Automation Engineer II is responsible for the software design and implementation, and support of automation and process control systems projects including new installations, modifications, and customer support. Activities are heavily focused on‑site at customer facilities. The ideal candidate must be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite. Automation Engineers will participate in an after‑hours on‑call rotation schedule.

Minimum Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Automated Manufacturing, Electro‑Mechanical Technology, or equivalent.
  • 4 years of intermediate PLC/HMI/SCADA programming and system startup experience.
  • Valid state driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Travel

25–50% travel.

Work Schedule

This position works between the hours of 6 AM and 6 PM, Monday‑Friday. Schedule may vary and can include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Methodically approach the process startup.
  • Work independently; assess and troubleshoot service needs under stressful conditions, e.g., machine down and customer losing money.
  • Work through more complicated systems and/or intermittent issues.
  • Work with team and take direction from more senior Automation Engineers and/or provide direction to less senior Automation Engineers.
  • Provide input to team brainstorming activities to contribute to solutions or options.
  • Think outside the box and be willing to share ideas.
  • Work intermediate level project assignments independently, including direct interaction with Systems Architects, Project Engineers, and customers.
  • Directly provide programming and commissioning support and “own” the startup and project scope.
  • Actively participate in continued education efforts.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
