Network Engineer III
Responsible for the operations of secure and highly available computing platforms, servers, and networks. Installs, maintains, upgrades, and continuously improves the operating or application environment. Maintains reliability, performance and support of infrastructure and systems, including monitoring, incident response, and growth planning. Deploys new technologies and designs, installs, configures, maintains and tests networks and related hardware. Requires strong customer service, vendor relationship, attention to detail, communication, and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain, monitor and support network security, VPN, wireless, load balancing, routing, and switching infrastructure.
- Follow defined procedures to monitor systems and resolve problems.
- Support one or more infrastructure platforms of medium to high complexity with multiple concurrent users ensuring control, integrity, accessibility, and performance.
- Participate in short‑term planning efforts with stakeholders and Business Technology Leaders; may lead planning efforts.
- Work with project teams to understand business needs, recommend solutions and ensure requirements are met.
- Collaborate with other engineers to clarify technical requirements.
- Participate in vendor meetings to determine appropriate solutions, implementation plans, and support planning.
- Monitor alerts and take appropriate actions; perform routine maintenance tasks such as backups and patch management; perform health checks and recommend remediation or additional checks.
- Monitor network capacity, response time, availability, and security; monitor hardware/software activity and resource utilization for capacity planning; recommend upgrades as needed.
- Identify problems and optimize performance; escalate and follow change‑management procedures.
- Analyze and report on operational metrics to support process improvements and capacity planning.
- Provide production support for escalated items, troubleshoot problems, notify resources upon failures and work to resolve issues while complying with SLAs.
- Adhere to security requirements and procedures, report issues, and recommend improvements.
- Document new or modified functions, modules, networks or systems.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Business, or equivalent professional experience and relevant training.
- 8+ years of experience with network administration and security and systems such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Citrix, or appropriate combinations.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, VPN, wireless, load balancing, and security best practices.
- Experience with monitoring tools, incident response, and capacity planning.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and vendor‑relationship skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a hybrid, 15% travel role.
Travel: approximately 15%. Work hours are typically 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with flexibility to work at any time to meet business needs.
Hybrid Work ModelThis role follows a hybrid work model with onsite collaboration and remote flexibility. Team members are required to spend part of each week at the Menasha, WI office while allowing remote autonomy.
