The Business Technology - System Engineer III owns operational responsibility for secure, highly available infrastructure across the enterprise; including server environments, cloud platforms (Azure & GCP), virtualization, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), identity management (Active Directory and Entra), backup systems (Rubrik), and hyperconverged infrastructure (Nutanix).
They install, maintain, upgrade and continuously improve the operating and application environment. They also maintain the ongoing reliability, performance and support of the infrastructure and systems, monitoring, responding to incidents, problems, and planning for growth.
Key Responsibilities- Maintains, monitors and supports servers, storage, virtual environment, cloud platforms, backup infrastructure and system security.
- Follows defined procedures to monitor systems and resolve problems.
- Supports one or more infrastructure platforms of medium to high complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, accessibility and performance.
- Participates and may lead short‑term planning efforts with stakeholders and Business Technology Leaders.
- Works with project teams to understand business needs, makes recommendations for solutions, and ensures business requirements are met.
- Collaborates with other engineers to understand technical requirements.
- Participates in vendor meetings to determine appropriate solutions, implementation plans and support planning.
- Monitors alerts and takes appropriate actions; performs routine maintenance tasks such as backups and patch management.
- Performs health checks based on checklists, makes recommendations for remediation or additional checks.
- Monitors system operating capacity in terms of uptime, availability and security; monitors resource utilization for capacity planning.
- Identifies problems and optimizes performance; escalates as appropriate; follows change‑management processes.
- Analyzes and reports on operational metrics for process improvements and capacity planning.
- Provides production support for escalated items, troubleshoots problems, notifies resources upon failure, and resolves issues under service‑level agreements.
- Adheres to security requirements, reports issues, and recommends improvements.
- Documents new or modified functions, modules, systems or configurations.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Education:
Associates degree in Information Technology or Business, or equivalent professional experience and relevant training. - Experience:
8 years or more with system administration, IaC, and systems such as Rubrik, Nutanix, VMWare, Citrix, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Windows Server Infrastructure. - Preferred
Certifications:
Microsoft Certified:
Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate (AZ‑104), Azure Fundamentals (AZ‑900), Google Cloud Certified:
Cloud Digital Leader or Associate Cloud Engineer (GCP Foundations), Nutanix Certified Associate (NCA).
Travel: 15%
Work Schedule:
Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday; however, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
