The Business Technology - System Engineer III owns operational responsibility for secure, highly available infrastructure across the enterprise; including server environments, cloud platforms (Azure & GCP), virtualization, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), identity management (Active Directory and Entra), backup systems (Rubrik), and hyperconverged infrastructure (Nutanix). They install, maintain, upgrade and continuously improve the operating or application environment. They also maintain the ongoing reliability, performance and support of the infrastructure and systems.

This includes monitoring, responding to incidents, problems, and planning for growth.

This role deploys the release of new technologies as well as design, install, configure, maintain and perform testing of the server operating systems, networks and related utilities and hardware. This role must have customer service orientation, vendor relationship skills, attention to detail and strong communication and collaboration skills are critical to the success of this role.



Minimum Requirements

Education:
Associates degree in Information Technology or Business, or equivalent professional experience and relevant training

Experience:

8 years or more experience with system administration, infrastructure as code (IaC) and security and systems such as;
Rubrik, Nutanix, VMWare, Citrix, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Windows Server Infrastructure

  • Microsoft Certified:
    Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate — Preferred
  • Microsoft Certified:
    Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) — Preferred
  • Microsoft Certified:
    Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) — Preferred
  • Google Cloud Certified:
    Cloud Digital Leader or Associate Cloud Engineer (GCP Foundational) — Preferred
  • Nutanix Certified Associate (NCA) — Preferred
Travel: 15%

Work Schedule:

Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday;
However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.



Key Responsibilities

  • Work Complexity:
    • Maintains, monitors and supports servers, storage, virtual environment, cloud platforms, and backup infrastructure, system security.
    • Follows defined procedures to monitor systems and resolve problems.
    • May support one or more infrastructure platforms of medium to high complexity with multiple concurrent users ensuring control, integrity, accessibility and performance.
  • Project planning:
    • Participates and may take lead in short-term planning efforts with stakeholders and Business Technology Leaders.
    • Works with project teams to understand business needs, makes recommendations for solutions and ensures business needs are met.
    • Works with other engineers to understand technical requirements.
    • Participates in vendor meetings to determine appropriate solution, implementation plans and/or support planning.
  • Operational support:
    • Monitors alerts and takes appropriate actions; performs routine maintenance tasks for assigned systems such as backups and patch management; performs health checks based on check lists, makes recommendations for remediation or additional checks to perform.
    • Monitors system operating capacity in terms of uptime, availability and security, monitors hardware/software activates and resource utilization for capacity planning, makes recommendations for system upgrades as needed.
    • Identifies problems and optimizes performance as needed; escalates as appropriate; follows change management process and procedures.
    • Analyzes and reports on operational metrics to ensure success in process improvements and capacity planning; provides recommendations for improvements needed.
