Our Railroad Signal Technician position focuses on daily inspections of highway grade crossing signal systems and wayside signaling systems across varying locations. All work is performed in accordance with mandatory Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations.
Minimum Requirements- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2–5 years of railroad signal maintenance experience.
- Successful completion of Hot Box and Signal Apprentice Training Program through Signal Training Solutions or equivalent prior experience.
- Ability to travel 100% of the time.
- Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Work as a member of a cohesive team with the ability to perform tasks independently.
- Clean and maintain job site, tools, and vehicles.
- Maintain compliance with FRA, OSHA, Faith Technologies, and customer‑specific safety requirements and report unsafe conditions promptly.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections without direct supervision.
- Safely operate heavy equipment such as mini‑excavator, skid steer, and telehandler to assist with grade‑crossing system installations.
- Install, program, and calibrate grade‑crossing predictors, solid‑state crossing controllers, relays, resistors, gate mechanisms, and lighting circuitry.
- Apply AREMA guidelines for grade‑crossing system minimum requirements.
- Demonstrate basic railroad signal troubleshooting skills.
- Verify site information against circuit plans.
- Read and understand railroad timetable documents.
- Use signal technician testing equipment and required tools correctly.
- Comply with Signalman Hours of Service regulations and participate in railroad‑designated PPE requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
