Middle School Youth Program Site Supervisor

Effective immediately we will accept applications for those that are interested in the Middle School Youth Program Site Supervisor. This is a 4 hours/day position Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (20 hrs/week). This position is a 12 month position which includes up to a 40 hour work week in the summer. Additional prep time will be allotted for planning summer camp.

The salary range is $24.43 hour – $26.67 hour based on the  salary schedule for district paraprofessionals. School Age Care employees are eligible for a stipend through the Great Start Compensation Grant. Stipends are based on the number of hours childcare staff work directly with children.

Line of Supervision

Reports directly to the Coordinator and Managers of the School Age Care Program.

Primary Function

To provide quality, age appropriate school age care to middle school youth under the direction of the Program Coordinator.

Qualifications
  • One or more years of relevant work experience in education, Youth Program Development or similar or school age care and knowledge of child development.
  • Experience working with middle school age children.
  • Experience working with children with special needs.
  • Strong leadership skills in program development and evaluation.
  • Experience building successful teams and supervising staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop, maintain and nurture relationships.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to adapt willingly to frequent changes in activities, priorities and/or work schedules.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Google Suite.
  • CPR, AED and First Aid Certified, CPI preferred.
Essential School Age Care Duties and Responsibilities Include
  • Planning, developing, implementing a developmentally appropriate program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of District 197 School Age Care and the middle school youth program guidelines.
  • Oversee and implement diverse youth programming, including service learning, youth advisory council, academic enrichment, and character development initiatives.
  • Write, implement, and post daily lesson plans.
  • Guide children's behavior in a consistent, positive style following District 197 philosophy.
  • Ability to anticipate and diffuse problems and disruptive situations.
  • Oversee and maintain daily schedules, rosters, and accurate counts of children.
  • Maintain student files and document behavior when appropriate.
  • Design and maintain a supportive, safe environment.
  • Lead and mentor School Age Care paraprofessionals through consistent on‑site observations and proactive coaching to ensure high‑quality program delivery.
  • Plan and lead regular monthly staff meetings.
  • Create a positive work environment.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through consistent observation, implementing improvements to enhance the student experience.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with parents/guardians and school district staff.
  • Create monthly newsletters, parent/family communications.
  • Supervise and monitor students at all times; supervise indoor and outdoor play, participate when possible.
  • Implement emergency drills and procedures when needed, including performance of CPR.
  • Must be available to work non‑school days, including non‑school day programming participation and supervision during off‑site field trips.
  • Review and collect send timesheets according to payroll schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

  • Must demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and communicate effectively both orally and in writing with parents/guardians and school staff.
  • Ability to understand and follow data privacy rules and regulations related to students.

  • Must have the ability and proven record of reporting to work on a regular and punctual basis.
