Pay Type / Range:
Journeyman Union Scale. $44.05 per hour (based on experience and/or size and type of equipment)
(This pay range is a good-faith estimate of compensation for this role.)

Job Summary :
The Skid Loader Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a skid steer to support asphalt paving, grading, milling, and site preparation activities. This role plays a key part in maintaining production flow, site cleanliness, and quality work across paving and maintenance projects.

Job Duties & Requirements:

- Operate skid steer (skid loader) to support asphalt paving operations, including material handling, grading, and cleanup
- Assist with site preparation, including fine grading, back filling, and debris removal
- Load and transport materials such as gravel, millings, asphalt, and soil
- Support paving crews by maintaining clean edges, transitions, and work areas
- Perform broom attachments and cleanup operations before, during, and after paving
- Work closely with foreman and crew members to ensure efficient workflow and job site coordination
- Conduct daily equipment inspections (pre- and post-trip) and report maintenance or repair needs
- Maintain proper care of equipment to prevent damage and ensure safe operation
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and jobsite procedures
- Assist with general labor duties when equipment operation is not required
- Display a professional and respectful attitude towards co-workers, supervisors, inspectors, and the general public at all times.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors.
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors.
- Follow company and industry safety standards and procedures at all times.
Preferred
Education and Experience:
- Previous experience operating a skid steer or similar compact equipment preferred
- Experience in asphalt paving, grading, milling, or road construction strongly preferred
- Ability to perform fine grading and work around utilities, structures, and crew members
- Basic mechanical knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance
- Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to jobsite safety
- Valid driver’s license (CDL may be required depending on company needs)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment in varying weather conditions
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to safety and quality.
- Must be safety-conscious, reliable, and able to work well in a team environment.
- Willingness to work extended hours, early mornings, and weekends as needed.
- High school education or GED equivalent.
- Strong team player
