Artist in Residence - Elementary Art

Position Details

Title:

Artist in Residence (Administrative Support Staff).

Date available:

August 2026 through May 2027. Pay: $17.00 per hour. Contractual position, no benefits. Background check required.

• Work with kindergarten through 5th grade students once per week, teaching lessons aligned to Colorado Visual Arts Standards.
• Focus on foundational art principles and foster creativity, exploration, problem‑solving, and artistic expression.
• Plan instruction (approximately 6.5 hours per week) and related activities (approximately 1.5 hours per week).
• Participate in monthly learning community meetings with other school‑based artists‑in‑residence (meeting time paid at hourly rate).
• Report to the school principal and the D51 Elementary Visual Arts Coordinator.
• Complete fingerprint background check and new‑hire paperwork.

• Knowledge of art fundamentals and an understanding of how visual arts connect with science, technology, engineering, and math.
• Preferred experience teaching art to young students.
• Reliable, collaborative, flexible, with a positive attitude and enthusiasm for working with children.

Hourly wage: $17.00 per hour. No benefits provided. Learning community meeting time paid at hourly rate.
