• Hourly Range: $26.36 - $37.12. Placement dependent upon verification of certifications (must be attached) and/or experience at time of hire.

• Hours: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
• Length of Work Year: 8 hours per day / 12 months

Knowledge of:

• Provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code, the California State Education Code, district policies and requirements, and other related regulations relative to the operation of vehicles used in transporting students.
• Gasoline, diesel, CNG engines, and Electric motors and their operations.
• Proper care and use of tools, equipment and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
• Arc, gas, and electric welding as applied to mechanical repairs.
• Practices, methods, tools, and equipment of body and fender work.
• Basic first aid practices, procedures, and techniques.
• Safe driving practices.
• Safety rules and regulations for this position.

• Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, preferably including vocational automotive mechanics courses.
• Successful experience as a journey-level diesel mechanic, including work with gasoline engines, or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in school bus maintenance operations is desired.
• Work history demonstrating dependability and reliability.

• Possession and maintenance of a valid State of California Class B Driver's License.
• CSLBC-60 Welding Contract or License, or QC7 Welder's license (aka Certified Welder) or equivalent preferred.
• Transit bus maintenance or ASE certificate preferred.
• Safe driving record in compliance with the restrictions set forth by the California Vehicle Code.

Full-Time

Salary: $26.36 to $37.12 Per Hour
