Position Overview
A mission-driven organization is seeking a Senior Accountant/Analyst to support a high-growth grant-making and impact-focused finance function. This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting support, financial reporting, and grant-related financial oversight within a collaborative and fast-evolving accounting team. The position plays a key role in improving reporting consistency, enhancing financial controls, and supporting scalable accounting processes as transaction volume continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities- Support full-cycle accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and month-end close processes
- Assist with accounts payable and expense processing while ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, including budget vs. actuals, variance analysis, and trend reporting
- Support grant-related financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with grant documentation requirements
- Review and interpret grant packets to validate payment eligibility, required documentation, and approval/signature completeness
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure consistency across reporting systems and accounting workflows
- Support audit preparation and provide documentation for monthly, quarterly, and annual audit requests
- Identify process improvements and assist in developing scalable accounting procedures and internal controls
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience or more
- Strong nonprofit accounting experience, specifically within grant-making or grantor organizations
- Prior experience within private foundations or philanthropic organizations
- Ability to validate grant documentation and supporting payment requirements
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Experience with larger ERP systems
- CPA certification and/or Master’s degree
- Public accounting experience supporting nonprofit audit engagements
