About Mission Bit
Mission Bit is a San Francisco-based nonprofit that inspires youth of color to explore the world of STEM with project-based computer science education that embraces their identities. We offer a variety of hands‑on STEM education programs, including semester‑long introductory coding courses.
The roleAs a Lead Instructor for the Intro to VR course, you'll be at the forefront of high‑quality computer science education, creating an inclusive classroom where students explore VR, build skills, and gain confidence. You'll prepare, plan, and teach three lessons per week using Mission Bit's project‑based curriculum. This is a highly visible, student‑facing role that reports directly to the Education Program Manager.
This role is in partnership with Meta's Youth Summer Academy, hosted at Meta HQ.
We're proud to provide training to all instructional staff to prepare them to teach, along with ongoing support throughout the semester. This is a seasonal, summer‑based in‑person role based in Menlo Park, CA, approximately 20 hours per week from June 1, 2026 through July 30, 2026.
Schedule- Mondays: 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Tuesdays through Thursdays: 9:00 AM – 3:15 PM
- June 1–11, 2026
- Classroom site visit:
June 5, 2026 (time TBD) - Live in‑person training
- Tuesdays through Thursdays beginning June 16, 2026 through July 23, 2026 from 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Mondays from 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM via Google Meets
- MSA Graduation:

- 20 hours per week
- In‑person at Meta HQ (1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025)
- Create an inclusive and community‑based classroom culture surrounding the Mission Bit core values of social justice, community, accountability, smart risks, and love
- Prepare and facilitate three lessons per week to a diverse group of learners, adjusting your lessons appropriately to best meet students' learning needs
- Ensure students are developing sufficient understanding to build their final project at the end of the semester that can be showcased at MSA Graduation
- Foster individual and meaningful relationships with students
- Enforce program expectations
- Collaborate with classroom staff (i.e. TA and student intern), program staff, and program partners to promote a positive student experience
- Lead morning huddles with other classroom staff to align on the plan for the day
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Follow all site and program policies and expectations
- You must be comfortable suggesting and implementing new ideas that improve the quality and integrity of Mission Bit and our curriculum. You understand that there are always new opportunities for improvement and ways to elevate our standards
- Communicate course progress to students and their families
- Submit a weekly report of class activities
- Communicate student progress and success throughout the course to the Program Staff and Education Program Manager so that we can collectively support students' learning
- Maintain regular communication with Mission Bit core team about plans or concerns
- Have at least 2+ years of experience in Unity, Game Design, C#, and VR (this may include college, bootcamps, internships, or workforce experience)
- Have at least 1+ years of experience teaching (including project‑based learning, asset‑based teaching, and/or culturally relevant teaching)
- Have at least 1+ year of experience working with youth between the ages of 12-18
- Have values aligned with Mission Bit and a passion for sharing CS knowledge
- Have experience effectively working on a team for technical projects
- Are comfortable in public speaking situations and have strong communication skills
- Have experience working with a diverse group of individuals
- Are self‑starting with the ability to effectively work autonomously
- Have experience in a managerial or leadership role
- Are bilingual in Spanish
- Accrued sick time‑off
- $38.00 / hour
