Organization Overview:
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 6,700 TK-College students across 30 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. We believe that talent is equally distributed across Silicon Valley, but opportunity is not, so we are committed to ensuring that socio-economically disadvantaged students have equitable access to the opportunities that will help them thrive in school and beyond.

Students benefit from high-quality academic programs, captivating enrichment activities, and access to critical mental health services. With support from our staff, Board, and broader Team BGCP community, we strive to make our community a great place for all kids to grow up.

Position Overview:

The Future Grads Program is a post secondary success program that equips first-generation students with the skills they need to overcome obstacles on their way to degree or certificate completion. While our program includes counseling on how to apply, complete financial aid forms and choose the right pathway, we also develop our students' social and emotional skills, including how to ask for help, access resources, build support networks and maintain confidence.

Future Grads supports its students to and through post secondary education.

The College Success Manager will primarily serve students at partner high schools in North San Mateo County (Daly City, and South San Francisco). Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as this role may occasionally require travel to other school sites or clubhouses throughout all of San Mateo County.

The College Success Manager will work with the high school team to provide the resources, support, tools and navigational skills students need to successfully pursue and complete a post secondary education. The College Success Manager will work with a caseload of high school senior students to help them with the application process for ALL post secondary pathways (bachelor's degree, associates degree, career training, and military) and play a key role in ensuring seamless implementation of the Future Grads program.

This program addresses the need for quality college advising in a community where few parents have historically attended college and where first-generation youth are not receiving the services they need to achieve their postsecondary goals.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Implement Future Grads Senior Programming: program goals, activities, and schedules at all our partner campuses and virtually as needed
  • Manage 12th grade Future Grads caseload of 150 students across JUHSD and SSFUSD to maintain student engagement and help them pursue their postsecondary goals
  • Execute Future Grads programming (post secondary readiness after-school workshops, application and financial aid support, personal narrative writing sessions, caregiver meetings, and more) in collaboration with the Future Grads High School team and the greater Future Grads Department
  • Build relationships with students and understand their post-secondary interests and goals
  • Establish and hold your students accountable to action plans
  • Maintain organized student records and tracking of program activities, including logging services on Salesforce database accurately and on time
  • Develop & cultivate partnerships with our partner high school campuses in the JUHSD and SSFUSD district through on-site school presence
  • Manage communication with students, families, school staff, volunteer coaches, and other partners
  • Ongoing presence at our School Site Locations and Boys & Girls Clubhouse locations
  • Support collaborative college success and high school programs at BGCP across San Mateo County
  • Required to travel to different regions multiple times a month
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Spanish, Tagalog, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, or Portuguese language ability strongly desirable
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years working with high school aged youth
  • Ability to guide students through high school completion, college application processes, and financial aid systems.
  • Experience steering youth through the college application process
  • Experience working with high school counselors who work with youth on the college application process
  • Background working in an ethnically diverse community and in meeting the needs of the groups represented in Daly City and South San Francisco
  • Strong initiative, self-starter, intrinsically motivated, problem solver
  • Strong interpersonal skills…
