Position Summary
Rudolph & Sletten, a Tutor Perini Company, is hiring a Senior Mechanical Estimator to work in Menlo Park, CA. The role requires coordinating with the Vice President of Estimating, Preconstruction Executives, and Senior Estimators for all HVAC, Plumbing, Piping, and Fire Protection trades.
SalaryExpected annual salary range: $160,000 – $180,000, based on experience and region.
Core Responsibilities- Prepare conceptual cost models and detailed estimates for HVAC, Plumbing, Piping, and Fire Protection based on minimal and detailed design information.
- Develop procurement documents, including detailed instructions to bidders, and conduct bid analysis.
- Solicit, receive, analyze vendor and subcontractor bids, recommend awards, and prepare subcontract agreements.
- Review and verify design documents to ensure they are biddable, constructible, and cost effective.
- Maintain risk mitigation and use checklists to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Coordinate with project estimating team, logistics, and MEP managers for project objectives.
- Present scope, costs, risks, and opportunities to management and clients.
- Participate in project turnover, buyout processes, and documentation of final files.
- Create professional reports, correspondence, and maintain required paperwork for bids.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 12–15 years of mechanical trade estimating experience with major contractors.
- Proficiency with Quote Soft (or similar) and Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Knowledge of OSHPD/HCAI, Design/Build, DBIA Associate or Professional certification, LEED certification, BMS Controls systems, HVAC/Plumbing design, and mechanical trade installation.
