Intern - TID RFAR

The Technology Innovation Directorate at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineering or related field student to contribute support to our klystron and accelerator department.

As an intern student you will be part of the Technology Innovation Directorate which helps support the lab's projects. This department is responsible for delivering support for many of the scientific programs  this role you will work side by side with our nation's leading scientific and engineering minds while also supporting legacy and future technologies in the area of microwave tubes and accelerators.

Our current key project is capturing the current state of our legacy klystron through modeling, drawings, BOMs and key components. The scope of the project has the possibilities of growing

Example projects and responsibilities include (but are not limited) to the following:

• CAD modeling of parts and assemblies
• Completing thorough prints
• Understanding and using GD&T
• Understanding and updating assembly procedures
• Sourcing outdated electronics and creating schematics

Other duties may also be assigned.

Note: This is an hourly, non-benefits eligible casual-nonexempt internship position (working less than 50% full-time equivalent), not to exceed 980 hours in a calendar year. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled in an educational program or recently graduated and have US work authorization. All accepted candidates must have or be able to timely acquire US work authorization.

To be successful in this position:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or recently graduated.
• Interest in mechanical engineering or related field
• Experience with Solid Edge
• Experience, or capable of learning, with a Product Data Management (PDM), Teamcenter
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance is essential.
• Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work.
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

The expected pay range for this position is $26.17 to $28.33 per hour. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
