Controller; ManCo | Venture Capital

Position: Controller (ManCo) | Venture Capital
Description

We are partnering with a top-tier Venture Capital firm located in Silicon Valley, specializing with early state and growth companies seeking an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of the firm's Management Company. This role will oversee the full close process, manage our outsourced accounting relationship, and partner closely with finance leadership to support reporting, controls, and scalable infrastructure.

General Ledger & Close

+ Own the general ledger and lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for the Management Company

+ Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules

+ Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP

Expense Allocation & Controls

+ Oversee expense allocations across Management Company entities, funds, and cost centers in accordance with partnership agreements

+ Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks

+ Exercise strong review oversight to ensure accuracy and compliance

Outsourced Accounting Oversight

+ Serve as the primary liaison for our outsourced accounting partner, Consero

+ Review and approve invoices, general ledger coding, and payment batches prepared by Consero

+ Ensure timely processing, accurate coding, and adherence to internal approval workflows

+ Conduct periodic vendor activity reviews and resolve discrepancies

+ Evaluate service quality and drive continuous improvement across outsourced processes

Financial Reporting & Analysis

+ Prepare quarterly financial statements and management reporting packages

+ Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for Management Company expenses

+ Provide actionable financial insights to finance leadership and firm management

Systems & Strategic Support

+ Partner with finance leadership on accounting system optimization and reporting enhancements

+ Support cross-functional initiatives and special projects as the firm continues to scale

Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting required

+ CPA or equivalent certification preferred

+ 6+ years of progressive accounting experience

+ Strong knowledge of GAAP and end-to-end month-end close processes

+ Experience overseeing or partnering with outsourced accounting and/or AP providers

+ Demonstrated strength in review, internal controls, and vendor management

+ High attention to detail with strong organizational skills

+ Sound professional judgment and discretion in handling confidential information

+

Experience with in venture capital, private equity, asset management, or professional services environments preferred

+ Familiarity with management company and fund structures strongly preferred
