Research Collaborator

Our client, a leading organization in robotics research and development, is seeking a Research Collaborator to join their team. As a Research Collaborator, you will be part of the innovative R&D department supporting robotics repair, maintenance, and hardware fabrication initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a collaborative spirit.

Location:

Menlo Park, CA (onsite 5 days a week)

Pay Range: 25-28/hr

** Please note
** you will be actively working with VR headsets in this role, 3D printers, soldering, etc. It will be a very interactive position where you are on your feet most of the time.

What's the Job?
  • Diagnose and repair commercial robots, ensuring minimal downtime through effective troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Operate 3D printing software to produce replacement and custom parts, assembling printed components into functional subassemblies.
  • Collaborate with data collection operators to manage hardware issues, swap out broken components, and keep devices charged and staged.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of spare parts, consumables, and printed components, and log repairs to identify recurring issues.
  • Uphold a safe, organized, and efficient workspace within the hardware lab and charging area.
What's Needed?
  • Hands-on experience repairing consumer or commercial robots, drones, or similar electromechanical devices.
  • Strong understanding of robot mechanical structures, actuation, and basic electronics such as motors, sensors, batteries, and wiring.
  • Proficiency with 3D printing workflows, including preparing models in slicer software, operating FDM/SLA printers, and post-processing prints.
  • Ability to assemble parts using hand tools, fasteners, and adhesives, following mechanical drawings or assembly instructions.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills to thrive in a collaborative environment.
