At Arkenstone Defense, we empower defense tech startups with the tools, infrastructure, and compliance solutions they need to become successful prime contractors. Our mission is to remove barriers and help innovators grow - from day one to becoming a trusted prime for the U.S. Government.
We're early, we're lean, and we're building something that actually matters. The people who do well here aren't waiting to be told what to do; they see a gap and fill it.
OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Service Now Developer (Remote, US) to design, build, and maintain platform solutions that support our security operations, compliance, and client service functions. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering and mission-critical compliance work. You will build and extend GRC/Sec Ops capabilities that support our FedRAMP and NIST 800-53 obligations, while also contributing to Customer Service Management workflows and custom application development across the platform.
This is a hands-on technical role for someone who can own development work end-to-end: from requirements and scripting through testing, deployment, and ongoing support, in an environment where accuracy and auditability matter as much as functionality.
What You’ll Do- Design, develop, and maintain custom applications, workflows, and integrations on the Service Now platform, including scoped applications and Service Portal components.
- Build and enhance capabilities within GRC, Sec Ops, and Integrated Risk Management (IRM) modules to support FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and related compliance programs.
- Configure and extend Security Incident Response (SIR) and Customer Service Management (CSM) workflows to meet internal and client-facing service needs.
- Develop and maintain business rules, client scripts, UI policies, ACLs, Flow Designer flows, and scheduled jobs following Service Now scripting best practices.
- Partner with security operations, compliance, and customer success stakeholders to translate operational and regulatory requirements into platform solutions.
- Write and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, configuration notes, and change records to support audit and compliance traceability.
- Participate in code review, testing, and release management processes, including use of update sets and source control.
- Troubleshoot and resolve defects, performance issues, and integration failures across the platform.
- 7+ years of hands-on Service Now development experience, including scripting (JavaScript, Glide API), workflow/Flow Designer, and custom application development
- Experience developing or configuring Service Now workflows
- Strong understanding of Service Now platform architecture, including ACLs, business rules, data model design, and integration methods (REST/SOAP, MID Server, Integration Hub)
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to document technical work clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Familiarity with Performance Analytics, Service Portal widget development, or Now Experience UI Builder
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for Service Now (e.g., ATF)
- Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain a security clearance
- Experience supporting FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or other federal compliance frameworks
- Prior experience in a defense, federal, or highly regulated industry.
- Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
- You thrive on building meaningful relationships and helping others succeed
- You understand the unique challenges that defense tech startups face, and can speak their language
