Staff Scientist (Contract)Position Overview
Advantage Technical is seeking a highly qualified Staff Scientist to support an innovative research and development organization focused on advancing next-generation technologies in the areas of energetic materials, electrochemical systems, and advanced materials development. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research programs addressing critical customer needs through the development of novel synthetic processes and advanced electrochemical technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a subject matter expert in the design, development, and evaluation of advanced electrochemical systems.
- Conduct both fundamental and applied research related to energetic materials and associated technologies.
- Develop and optimize novel synthetic processes for advanced materials and energetic compounds.
- Support research efforts involving electrochemical synthesis, energy storage systems, and materials characterization.
- Analyze experimental data and provide technical recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.
- Collaborate across multiple R&D programs while contributing to technical reports, presentations, and customer deliverables.
- Apply advanced analytical techniques to characterize materials and evaluate system performance.
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance as project requirements evolve.
- Ability to work with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Strong technical expertise in electrochemistry, including:
- Electrochemical synthesis
- Primary and secondary battery technologies
- Electrochemical energy storage systems
- Materials science and characterization
- Experience utilizing analytical methods to support materials development and performance evaluation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging electrochemical technologies, including:
- Lithium-ion batteries
- Sodium-ion batteries
- Metal-air battery systems
- Gas diffusion electrodes
- Related advanced electrochemical platforms
- Experience working with:
- Optical materials
- Organic and inorganic electronic materials
- Energetic materials
- Hydrogen-rich materials
- Organic and inorganic fuels
- Background in contract research and development (R&D) environments.
- Experience supporting government, defense, or advanced technology research programs.
- Proven ability to manage multiple technical projects in a dynamic research setting.
