Advance Peptide Discovery with Cutting-Edge Mass Spectrometry

Staffmark is seeking an experienced Senior Analytical Scientist for a consulting opportunity supporting an innovative peptide discovery program. If you have hands‑on expertise with Thermo Orbitrap mass spectrometers, nanoLC-MS/MS method development, and peptide sequence identification, this is an excellent opportunity to work on high‑impact research with potential for recurring project assignments.

Education Requirements
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mass Spectrometry, or a related scientific field
  • Equivalent industry experience will be considered
Experience Requirements
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience with nano-flow LC-MS/MS on Thermo instrumentation
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting Thermo Orbitrap mass spectrometers and Xcalibur software
  • Strong knowledge of peptide MS/MS fragmentation and database‑based sequence identification
  • Experience developing and optimizing nanoLC-MS workflows
Job Duties
  • Perform high‑sensitivity nano‑flow LC-MS/MS analysis of peptide samples
  • Develop and optimize nanoLC-MS/MS methods and MS/MS acquisition parameters
  • Configure and operate a Thermo Orbitrap XL and Thermo Dionex Ulti Mate 3000 NanoLC system
  • Analyze and interpret LC-MS/MS data for peptide sequence identification
  • Perform instrument maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
  • Resolve nanoLC system issues involving flow paths, columns, emitters, and electrospray stability
  • Document analytical methods, results, and recommendations
  • Collaborate with scientific teams to support peptide hit identification
