Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced product architect to join our Middle Office Core Platform Organization. This team owns systems, services and initiatives that provide financial products to our customers across digital channels, building capabilities used by millions of customers daily. The role focuses on driving modernization initiatives with cloud and open‑source technologies.
Responsibilities- Work closely with other architects and engineering leadership to understand requirements and ensure enterprise best architecture practices are adopted in product.
- Provide direction to product development teams regarding planning, definition, high‑level solution design, establishing critical non‑functional requirements and participating in defining functional requirements.
- Present ideas to all levels of management, technical and non‑technical audiences, and guide engineering teams in implementation.
- Perform technical design reviews and peer source code reviews to ensure reuse, scalability and best practices.
- Build reference architecture and solutions that remain flexible and can evolve with business needs.
- Demonstrate informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessment.
- Drive innovation by adopting new technologies and approaches to renovate, extend and transform the core technology base around cloud, microservices, high transaction databases, and API‑enabled platforms.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or STEM field; 10+ years of professional experience;
Master’s preferred. - Financial Services or Fin Tech experience is a plus.
- Hands‑on experience building services with cloud native technologies and migrating/decomposing monoliths into services.
- Expert knowledge of cloud native and microservices architecture, design principles and technologies; able to mentor teams.
- Deep experience rethinking/reimagining service/application architecture during cloud migration, including decomposition, security, native services, resiliency and observability.
- Understanding of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS delivery models.
- Experience designing products leveraging network, security, compute and storage domains.
- Strong experience with relational database systems (preferably Sybase, Oracle, MSSQL).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure automation, Dev Ops and CI/CD.
- Contribution to open‑source community projects is a plus.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and ability to articulate technical topics.
- Experience building scalable and highly available distributed systems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with senior leadership.
- Ability to work with global teams and across time zones.
- Mentor and grow talent; seed cloud mindset within the organization.
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $250,000 per year on commencement of employment. Compensation may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, short and long‑term incentive packages and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
