Embedded Linux Engineer – Menlo Park, CA

We are looking for an Embedded Linux Engineer to join our Philips Hue multidisciplinary engineering team in Menlo Park, California. The role focuses on developing and continuously improving embedded software for Hue secure cameras and the Hue Bridge.

• Collaborate with the embedded team to expand platform and application offerings for customers.
• Collaborate with team members to design the architecture and infrastructure for features that connect embedded, cloud, and mobile components.
• Partner with the QA team to ensure product quality and reliability through rigorous testing and verification.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve software defects efficiently to maintain optimal system performance.
• Communicate and collaborate with a diverse, global team across multiple time zones.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related discipline.
• 1+ years of work experience in an embedded software role with a proven track record of delivering high-quality products to customers.
• Excellent experience developing software for embedded Linux, using Buildroot or similar tools.
• Experience in Python, C, C++, or similar languages.
• Knowledge of API and network communication technologies, including MQTT.
• Effective communicator and team player with a can‑do mentality.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future company sponsorship.

Salary: $88,102 – $129,217 (based on experience). Bonus: target bonus opportunity – 5%.
