Liaison Engineer

Person will work in the Engineering department and resolve engineering issues with Production, Quality Assurance, and Enstrom’s vendors. He/she will also investigate issues with aircraft in the field, primarily raised by aviation authorities, but also raised by Enstrom Product Support. He/she will report to the Engineering Manager and work with the Design Group as well as various Manufacturing, Planning, Purchasing, Product Support, and aviation Authority personnel.
The candidate will also support the Engineering department with structural analysis and project management on an “as needed/as available” basis.
- Production Liaison: Resolve problems in Production as they arise, whether through the production process, parts, quality assurance, or another source.
- Vendor Liaison: Resolve issues with vendors, either through purchasing, quality assurance, production, or any other sources as required. Approve or reject parts during construction on vendor Non-Conforming Material Disposition Form. Evaluate vendor issues and help vendor to resolve the issue, make decisions, and maintain schedule.
- Service Issue Resolution: Resolve issues arising from the field by coordinating Product Support, Aviation Authority, Air Safety, and Engineering personnel and efforts. This position supplements air safety; it does not replace or supersede it.
- Product Changes: Make minor changes (including E.O.’s or drawing revisions, if necessary) as required to correct design issues raised by vendors, Production, or Test. These changes must be coordinated through the Engineering system for proper release to the FAA, as required. - Structural Analysis: Perform basic structural analysis as required to support the liaison duties, as well as the general Engineering effort on an “as needed” basis.
Skills and Abilities
- Experience in the manufacture of complete aircraft.
- An advanced understanding of aircraft structure.
- A basic or advanced understanding of sheet metal, welding, machining, fiberglass manufacturing and assembly procedures.
- A Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
- A basic or advanced understanding of aircraft repair procedures (AC 43.13).
- An advanced understanding of product fit, function, and tolerances.
- A basic familiarity with Material Review Board duties and functions.
- Basic structural analysis skills.
- Superior problem‑solving skills.
- Superior communication skills (verbal and written).
- Acute attention to detail.
- An ability to work with people.
- An ability to work multiple projects and multi‑task.
- Basic or advanced CAD skills are highly desirable. Solid Works experience preferred.
- A basic or advanced understanding of FAA rules and regulations.
- A Master’s in Mechanical, Structural or Aerospace Engineering.
