Licensed Design-Build Architect

Salary: $110,000–$130,000 DOE

We are seeking an experienced Licensed Architect to join a growing commercial General Contractor with a strong focus on design-build construction.

This is an opportunity for an Architect who understands that great design is not just about aesthetics—it is also about constructability, code compliance, zoning, budget, and delivering a practical solution that meets the owner's needs.

The ideal candidate will currently work for, or have significant experience working with, a General Contractor or design-build organization and will be comfortable collaborating closely with owners, preconstruction, estimating, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Meet directly with owners and clients during the initial design process to understand their vision, needs, and project requirements.
  • Lead initial design reviews and communicate architectural concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Listen to client needs and translate them into practical, functional, and buildable designs.
  • Develop conceptual designs and provide sketches or preliminary layouts during the early stages of a project.
  • Complete detailed architectural drawings and construction documents.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, zoning requirements, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Balance design intent with project budget, constructability, and schedule while avoiding unnecessary or excessive design.
  • Work closely with estimating, preconstruction, project management, and field construction teams.
  • Participate in design coordination and help identify potential constructability or cost concerns early in the process.
  • Coordinate with engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Provide architectural support throughout the design and construction process.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail across all drawings and project documentation.

Qualifications

  • Active Architectural License required.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
  • Experience working on commercial construction projects.
  • Strong design-build experience is required.
  • Experience working for a General Contractor, design-build contractor, or similarly integrated design and construction organization is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning, permitting, and code compliance.
  • Ability to develop practical designs that balance owner expectations, functionality, constructability, and budget.
  • Comfortable meeting directly with owners and leading initial design discussions.
  • Ability to sketch and communicate design concepts during the early stages of a project.
  • Strong experience producing complete and detailed architectural drawings and construction documents.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience coordinating closely with construction and preconstruction teams is highly preferred.

Compensation

$110,000–$130,000 base salary, depending on experience. If you are a Licensed Architect with commercial design-build experience who enjoys working closely with both owners and construction teams, this is an opportunity to have a direct impact on projects from the initial concept through construction.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, age, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable laws or regulations.
