Summary
Reporting to the ARS Modeling Manager, the Modeling Engineer provides direct engineering support of the Architectural Systems Group. Special emphasis is given to managing and processing multiple projects within the work queue, while maintaining a focus on accuracy and timeliness. This includes providing the creation of approval drawings using the Autodesk Inventor design suite, and the coordination of subsequent updates based upon approval process feedback.
An approved model is the primary output of the position.

- Develop and engineer approval models of architectural systems using Autodesk Inventor, applying sound engineering principles and design standards.
- Analyze customer drawings and specifications to determine optimized structural and fabrication solutions.
- Exercise independent engineering judgment to resolve design conflicts, dimensional discrepancies, and manufacturability challenges.
- Manage and prioritize assigned projects within the incoming work queue, communicating expected lead times and project status to stakeholders.
- Create and maintain engineered drawings for customer submittals in support of the sales and project execution process.
- Create and maintain technical drawings for external vendor submittals in support of procurement and product realization.
- Provide for maintenance of existing records through ECR process as needed.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure adherence to Design for Manufacturability (DFM) guidelines and production capabilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Structural, or related field) required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of engineering or modeling experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in 3D CAD modeling and design using Autodesk Inventor or similar advanced CAD platforms.
- Experience in the metal fabrication industry, preferably in a job shop environment.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes related to structural and ornamental metal products.
- Experience with CNC equipment and programming preferred.
- Pipe bending and/or pipe fabrication experience desirable.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong computer literacy, including typing/keyboarding and document control practices.
- Strong mathematical and reading comprehension skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret customer-provided drawings and translate them into accurate CAD models and drawings.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
