Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain with technical expertise and basic project management for new raw materials, structures, and customer applications; track work-in-process trials and communicate status updates.
  • Apply deep knowledge of films, laminations, and packaging applications (including pouching) to recommend structures that balance technical performance, manufacturability, cost, and business requirements.
  • Build and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings in the ERP system, including structure setup, assignment to production orders, and upkeep of related product structure documentation.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on approved projects through the product development process, coordinating activities across functions to deliver customer-ready outcomes.
  • Plan, execute, and document trial work per the Glenroy Quality System, including coordinating material qualification, providing production-line support during sample runs, and ensuring required forms and spec evaluations are completed.
  • Perform material and package testing for development projects, analyze results, and recommend continuous improvement actions; support Quality and Manufacturing Engineering with material investigations as needed.
  • Provide direct customer technical support (phone/virtual/on-site), including attending customer filling trials; generate pouch designs/layouts and prototypes as required to support customer projects and orders.
  • Build internal capability and external awareness by training others on flexible packaging and lab techniques, maintaining databases/spreadsheets for data retrieval, reviewing industry periodicals, meeting with material suppliers, representing Glenroy at industry/sustainability events.
  • Deliver sustainable solutions to serve the next generation by engaging in Glenroy's ESG programs including waste and carbon reduction efforts, through projects and reporting.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Packaging, Engineering (Chemical/Mechanical/Industrial), or related technical field preferred. Associate's degree and experience in flexible packaging production, quality control production, or related field will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with standard test methods and regulations (ASTM, GMPs, OTC, and FDA, etc.) is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands to operate tools and equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move objects over 50 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, color recognition, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee infrequently works near moving mechanical parts and is infrequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is quiet - hearing protection is required on the manufacturing floor.

Protective Clothing/ Equipment Required:

Hearing protection, safety shoes, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements must be worn in all manufacturing areas. Additional PPE may be required as needed.
