Strategic Sourcing Analyst

The Strategic Sourcing Analyst is responsible for completing sourcing activities related to New Product Development and Current Product in the assigned commodity space, aligned with the Global Commodity Manager (if applicable). The role independently develops, implements, and drives category/subcategory as well as supplier strategies for non‑globally driven categories. The analyst is responsible for the commercial performance of the assigned category regionally for new and existing products/part numbers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Strategy
  • Develop and execute the Regional Category Strategy for commodities not supported by a Global Category Manager, including competitive landscape and market overview.
  • Support Global Category Strategy with regional market information and lead the tactical execution of the Global Category Strategy where applicable.
  • Conduct risk analysis related to suppliers and overall strategy (financial, geopolitical, capacity), communicating during supplier selection to ensure supply continuity.
  • Analyze purchase volumes within the category to drive supplier consolidation, cost reduction, and product portfolio/supplier capability efficiency.
  • Understand current and future technologies and production methods within the assigned commodity, driving internal and external communication.
  • Evaluate, onboard, and offboard suppliers.
  • Negotiate, implement, and execute all commercial contracts (MSA, NDA, Quality Agreement, SOW, etc.).
Quoting
  • Manage quoting and negotiations for piece price, tooling cost, price changes, savings projects, and engineering changes.
  • Globally benchmark regional current products for landed cost optimization, strategy development, and market research.
  • Quote all NPD parts and tooling to support supplier selection and project timing.
  • Set quote information to engineering requirements to drive sourcing direction toward optimal supply solutions (cost, quality, timing).
  • Understand detailed cost breakdowns and should‑cost calculations to drive cost reductions with suppliers.
  • Use landed total cost of ownership models for series production material to drive supplier selection and cost reductions.
Supplier Selection
  • Lead supplier selection for both global and regional strategies on current products and NPD components.
  • Ensure adequate capacity at the selected supplier and act as escalation point for capacity issues during series production.
  • Consider inventory levels and collaborate with planning/scheduling for commercial solutions (incoterms, MOQ, lead time levers).
  • Prepare quote comparison/summary, outline options, gain cross‑functional alignment, and present proposed direction to the Supplier Nomination Committee (SNC).
Current Product
  • Manage ECN communication to suppliers and implementation.
  • Manage cost‑reduction projects with suppliers, engineering, and quality.
  • Manage all price updates.
  • Support end‑of‑life product phase‑out discussions and commercial liability.
  • Resolve invoice issues.
New Product Development (NPD)
  • Manage quoting and negotiations for piece price, tooling cost, price changes, savings projects, and engineering changes.
  • Manage critical component timelines.
  • Issue and manage POs for pre‑production parts and tooling to support NPD projects.
  • Support PPAP activities with suppliers and supplier quality engineers.
  • Communicate status, risk, and timing to cross‑functional project team.
  • Interact cross‑functionally with quality, engineering, supply chain, planning, accounting, project management, logistics.
  • Act as primary relationship manager between the company and suppliers within the assigned commodity.
  • Serve as escalation point for supplier issues for planning/scheduling, operations, engineering, quality, warranty.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills

Qualifications:

Additional years of experience or education may be substituted for each other as determined by Human Resources.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related business program.
  • Minimum 5 years of procurement/sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment (7 years preferred).
  • Experience with ERP systems within a manufacturing environment and an understanding of the planning and execution process.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated success through negotiation.
  • Strong conflict‑resolution and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, including globally on short notice.
Preferred Qualifications
  • APICS certification
  • Prior use of SAP
  • Understanding or experience with PPAP
