Overview

This role directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering design projects within the area of assigned responsibility.

Responsibilities
  • Create product designs based on customer/company defined criteria using CAD data, drawings, specifications, and customer DVP&R.
  • Develop new product concepts, methods, and materials to broaden product offerings.
  • Work directly with customers and internal resources to exchange data, ideas, designs, and concepts resulting in robust, functional, and manufacturable designs.
  • Prepare budgetary and firm manufacturing estimates covering manufacturing process costs, including secondary operations, material, tooling, components, outside services, and packaging.
  • Manage new projects from product design through implementation, including tool design, prototyping, product validation, launch support, and ongoing production support.
  • Conduct engineering analyses for fit, function, tolerance stack‑ups, lifecycle testing, and application of GD&T.
  • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, customer performance requirements, and specifications.
  • Prepare DFEMA and DVP&R documentation for assigned projects.
  • Prepare required APQP documentation per APQP procedure and customer requirements while maintaining compliance with IATF
    16949 standards.
  • Coordinate technical development, scheduling, and resolution of engineering design and test problems.
  • Prepare interim and completion project reports and proactively advise management of project status and projected results.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university.
  • Minimum of 2 years related design engineering experience, including component design and CAD work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Solid Works 3‑D design software.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of metal stamping, plastic injection molding, FEA, and kinematics.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and ability to apply them.
  • Experience creating DFEMA and DVP&R documents.
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately.
  • Strong collaboration skills: ability to share ideas and work with other professionals.
