The Strategic Buyer II creates/supports an environment of continuous improvement and leads/drives corrective actions relating to internal and external suppliers.
- Proactively identifies and recommends suppliers by investigating potential suppliers, researching parts, equipment, services and materials availability
- Develops potential bidder lists and initiates formal requests for quotations (RFQ) or proposals (RFP)
- Conducts supplier site visits and evaluates each supplier’s ability to meet specific capability, performance, delivery and other key business requirements
- Completes supplier certifications independently or as part of a technical team
- Manages and maintains key supplier relationships, including metrics, performance goals, corrective actions, and improvement initiatives
- Reviews supplier operations to determine factors affecting pricing. Analyzes and prepares reports, quotes and documentation accordingly
- Ensures that suppliers are performing in accordance with pertinent contracts and agreements
- Participates in product introduction teams to establish sources of supply
- Reviews all strategic expedite request that have potential for commercial impact
- Identifies root causes of supplier-driven material shortages. Determines corrective aciton
- Serves as escalation point for supplier capacity issues, pricing discrepancies and will assist with technical and quality concerns when necessary
- Communicates with suppliers and internal teams concerning priorities, interdependencies and schedules
- Responsible for accuracy and integrity of new/existing vendor master data
- Collaborates with Category Management to create and manage purchase info records
- Executes engineering change orders/requests and communicates with operative purchasing when needed. Maintains all necessary master data
- Development of pricing comparisons for onboarding/discharge of suppliers
