Overview

The General Manager (GM) is the chief operating executive of North Hills Country Club, responsible for the coordination, direction, and oversight of all Club operations and activities. Reporting directly to the President of the Board of Directors, the GM ensures a consistently exceptional member experience while managing the Club's grounds and golf course maintenance, pro shop and golf operations, food and beverage services, membership department, and accounting/finance function as a single, unified operation.

The GM is accountable for the Club's fiscal health, membership growth and retention, staff leadership, and the execution of the Board's strategic priorities.

Experience Required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a General Manager or comparable senior operational leadership role, with a demonstrated record of success, preferably in a private club, golf, or hospitality setting.
  • Proven experience overseeing multiple departments, including golf/grounds operations, food and beverage, membership, and finance/accounting.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budget development, capital planning, and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated success growing and retaining membership and driving member/guest satisfaction.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a Board of Directors, staff, members, and vendors.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent related experience will also be considered, including but not limited to a background as a PGA Professional. CCM (Certified Club Manager) designation a plus.
Essential Responsibilities Overall Club Operations & Leadership
  • Direct and coordinate all Club departments and activities, ensuring smooth, integrated day-to-day operations across grounds, golf/pro shop, food and beverage, membership, and accounting.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and Club staff, keeping the President and Board informed on operational performance, member matters, and emerging issues.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate department heads and staff; foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high‑quality member service.
  • Collaborate closely with department leads - particularly the Pro Shop, Accounting, Membership, and Grounds & Greens (Superintendent) to align each department's plans and daily operations with overall Club goals.
  • Develop the leadership capacity of department heads, delegating clear ownership of their respective areas so each leader is accountable for the performance, budget, staff, and member experience within their department.
  • Establish regular check‑ins and reporting rhythms with department leads to monitor progress, coach performance, and ensure consistent communication between departments and the GM.
  • Develop and enforce Club policies, procedures, and service standards consistent with Board direction and industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including employment, health, safety, and liquor licensing requirements.
  • Represent the Club professionally to members, vendors, the local community, and industry organizations.
Grounds & Golf Course Maintenance
  • Oversee the Superintendent and grounds crew to ensure the golf course, clubhouse grounds, and related facilities are maintained to a highly competitive standard.
  • Partner with the Superintendent on annual maintenance planning, agronomic programs, and capital improvement priorities for turf, irrigation, and equipment.
  • Support the Superintendent in building a strong grounds and greens team, with clear accountability for course conditions, crew performance, and the department's operating and capital budgets.
Golf Shop & Golf Operations
  • Oversee the golf professional staff, pro shop merchandising, tournament operations, and tee sheet management.
  • Ensure a welcoming, well‑run golf operation that supports member play, guest experience, and Club revenue goals.
