Production Manager – Manufacturing & Operations
Our agency is partnering with a well-established manufacturing leader to hire an experienced Production Manager for their Manufacturing & Production group. This individual will oversee daily operations, drive production performance, and ensure seamless order execution from manufacturing through shipment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership in an industrial manufacturing environment—preferably in loading dock equipment, industrial door systems, heavy mechanical assemblies, or construction equipment manufacturing.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Direct and coordinate daily operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Oversee customer orders from production through delivery, ensuring accuracy, scheduling shipments, managing shipping claims, and meeting fulfillment deadlines.
- Lead the MDI (Management for Daily Improvement) process to control production systems and monitor budget performance.
- Evaluate KPIs, identify performance gaps, and champion continuous improvement using Lean and 6S methodologies.
- Ensure consistent deployment of the manufacturing operating system to enhance productivity and operational performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve tactical challenges and contribute to strategic planning for the production unit.
- Work with engineering and core teams to identify capacity needs, introduce new technologies, and support process improvements.
- Assess training needs, support employee development, and build talent pipelines.
- Maintain accurate costed bills of materials and support cost analysis, product builds, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Partner with Sales to support new product development, prototypes, and competitive benchmarking.
- Support timely production, shipment, and costing of customer orders while participating in new product introduction efforts.
- Ensure full compliance with safety standards and foster a culture of safe work practices.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing production team.
- Drive performance management, coaching, feedback, and development planning.
- Maintain transparent communication through meetings, one-on-ones, and daily interactions.
- Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with company mission, values, and expectations.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience (direct or indirect) within a production or operations environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing safety and quality systems
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, DFM, Value Stream Mapping, and total cost considerations
- Data analysis, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Proficiency with ERP systems
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred:
- Industry experience in loading dock equipment manufacturing, industrial door manufacturing, or construction equipment manufacturing
- Advanced engineering or operations degree
