Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated, hardworking horticulturist to join our maintenance staff at the Wisconsin Country Club. This is a seasonal position from April-November and with shifts typically Mon-Fri beginning between 5:30 and 6:30 AM however, this positiion can be flexible in shift duration and timing, but will typically be 40 hours per week.
Job Responsibilities- Design, implement, and maintain ornamental gardens, flower beds, and other landscaped areas across the property.
- Perform planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, and soil preparation to ensure healthy and vibrant plant growth.
- Monitor the health of plants and trees, identifying and addressing pests, diseases, or other issues.
- Develop and execute seasonal planting plans in collaboration with the Golf Course Superintendent.
- Coordinate irrigation and watering schedules for landscaped areas.
- Source, procure, and manage inventory of plants, tools, and materials.
- Maintain and enhance the visual appeal of entryways, club facilities, and other high-traffic areas.
- Ensure all horticultural practices align with sustainability and environmental standards.
- Oversee and train seasonal staff or volunteers assisting with landscaping tasks.
- Operate and maintain horticultural equipment safely and effectively.
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance, garden design, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of plant species, soil management, and pest control methods.
- Familiarity with sustainable and environmentally friendly landscaping practices.
- Proficiency in operating horticultural tools and machinery.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with a team.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Certification in Horticulture or related fields.
- Experience working in a private club, golf course, or similar high-end environment.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and water management techniques.
- Creative flair for designing visually appealing landscapes.
