The Quality Manager will plan, coordinate, and direct the quality control program designed to ensure products are consistently manufactured in accordance with established ISO requirements, customer requirements, and other applicable regulations and standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead, maintain, and continually improve the company’s Quality Management System, including procedures, work instructions, inspection plans, quality records, and audit readiness.
- Ensure compliance with applicable customer, industry, and certification requirements, including ISO 9001 and other customer-specific quality standards as required.
- Develop and maintain control plans, inspection criteria, process validation requirements, first article inspection documentation, and production part approval documentation as applicable.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities using tools such as 5 Why, fishbone analysis, 8D, mistake-proofing, and structured problem solving.
- Monitor quality performance indicators including scrap, rework, customer complaints, internal defects, process capability, first-pass yield, and cost of poor quality.
- Partner with production, engineering, maintenance, and operations leadership to resolve quality issues, improve process capability, and reduce variation.
- Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities to ensure parts conform to drawings, specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements.
- Support and improve metrology systems, including gage calibration, measurement system analysis, Gage R&R, CMM inspection, hand measurement tools, and fixture validation.
- Lead customer quality communications, including complaint response, corrective action reporting, containment plans, and quality performance reviews.
- Manage supplier quality performance, incoming material issues, supplier corrective actions, and supplier development activities as needed.
- Facilitate, develop and implement PPAP, SPC, PFMEA and APQP activities.
- Train, coach, and develop quality inspectors, technicians, auditors, and production employees on quality standards, inspection methods, defect recognition, and process controls.
- Occasional travel may be required for customer visits, supplier visits, training, audits or other business needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of experience as a Quality Manager in a machining manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of the ISO or IATF Quality System as well as ISO Lead Auditor training experience preferred.
