About Assets ProtectionThe Assets Protection (AP) teams protect guests, team members and the brand by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud, and responding to crisis events. They develop relationships with store leaders and public safety officials, including law enforcement. As a Target Security Specialist, you will use intelligence‑led tactics, crisis response, crowd and physical security management, video surveillance, and case management systems to keep everyone safe.
Responsibilities- Provide an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience by greeting guests, assisting them in finding items, resolving issues, and thanking them at checkout.
- Support team members in all store areas while maintaining a respectful attitude and positive demeanor.
- Promote a culture of physical security by assessing and maintaining safe standards throughout the store and exterior property.
- Respond to and document security incidents promptly in the case‑management system.
- Leverage de‑escalation tactics and resources when responding to incidents across the store.
- Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide apprehension support in accordance with AP policy.
- Prevent theft and shortage through receipt checks and trend communication.
- Understand and use Target’s video surveillance system effectively.
- Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance while working safely at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
- Min. 18 years old, high‑school diploma or equivalent.
- Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements.
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and colleagues.
- Ability to communicate on multiple‑frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology as directed.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and with a team.
- Capacity to manage workload, prioritize tasks, and remain focused in a fast‑paced environment.
- Comfortable working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays and peak shopping times.
- Ability to climb ladders, apprehend subjects per company policy, and handle merchandise efficiently and safely (incl. lifting up to 40lb).
- Comfortable with varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental conditions during duties (e.g., drive‑up, carry‑out).
