We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Shipping Coordinator to join our shipping & receiving team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the shipping process, including coordinating shipments, supervising shipping team members, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations, and maintaining optimal inventory levels. This position involves working closely with operations, customer service, and management teams to ensure efficient and accurate fulfillment of orders.

This role is essential for maintaining the efficiency and accuracy of shipping operations, contributing to customer satisfaction and overall business success.

Key Responsibilities Shipping Operations
  • Oversee the packing, labeling, and dispatching of shipments including calling in freight shipments.
  • Ensure that part stamping is completed on all products and products are packaged, shipped on time, accurately, and in good condition.
  • Track and record built not shipped data on a daily basis.
Inventory Management
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure proper inventory controls on shipping supplies.
  • Coordinate with other departments to track stock and receive returns or damaged goods.
Coordination with Carriers
  • Provide the Sales department with necessary status updates on shipments.
  • Track and resolve any shipping issues or delays with third-party logistics providers.
Documentation
  • Ensure all necessary shipping documentation is accurate and complete, including bills of lading, shipping invoices, customs paperwork (if applicable), and tracking information.
Quality Control
  • Conduct quality checks to verify that orders are complete, correctly packed, and shipped per company standards.
  • Ensure all part stamps have second person verification.
  • Root cause analysis of any shipping RMAs.
Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure that shipping operations comply with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and local transportation laws, including hazardous materials handling when necessary.
  • Audit shipping department for safety opportunities and partner with Manager on the appropriate process to leverage process improvement opportunities.
Reporting
  • Track and report on key performance metrics such as shipping accuracy, shipping costs, and order fulfillment times.
  • Recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Complete maintenance requests as necessary.
Problem Resolution
  • Address with root cause analysis any shipping-related issues such as delays, damaged goods, or discrepancies.
  • Work with internal teams to resolve customer complaints and issues effectively.
Required Experience and Education
  • Proven experience in a shipping, logistics, or warehouse role; previous experience in a supervisory or leadership position is highly preferred.
  • Physical Requirements:

    Ability to lift, move, and pack products of varying sizes and weights as required. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree or logistics certification is a plus).
  • Cycle counting and/or inventory control disciplines.
  • ERP system knowledge.
  • Certifications (Optional):
    Forklift certification, shipping-related certifications, or logistics training.
  • Software experience: MS Outlook, Word, Excel
