Teaching Assistant Professor – Clinical Mental Health Counseling
The Department of Counseling, Rehabilitation, and Human Services is actively expanding their Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program and seeking candidates for two Teaching Assistant Professorpositions. These grant-funded, full-time, 9-month academic yearpositions, with opportunity for summer work/teaching, may begin assoon as May 2027. Faculty in these positions will initially giveprimary focus to curriculum development and CACREP accreditationalignment to assist in the development of an online part-time CMHCtrack.
They will also teach within the current CMHC program. Uponthe successful launch of the part-time online program, the faculty responsibilities will transition to a four-four teaching load alongwith opportunities for service and scholarship responsibilitiesduring the academic year with the opportunity for summer teaching for the remainder of the grant.
These positions are reviewed annually with the intention to renew,contingent on grant funding, to September 2031. At the culminationof grant funding, and depending on program success, the faculty maybe eligible to apply for a tenure-track position, with potential for three years applied towards promotion and tenure, through the standard recruitment process.
A successful candidate will be passionate about program and curriculum development, committed to promoting the development ofan equitable and inclusive learning environment, and familiar withCACREP accreditation processes. The Department supports a varietyof contemporary teaching modalities including in-person, blended,and distance learning environments.
This position is supported by the Centers for Medicare &Medicaid Services (CMS) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) through a subaward as part of a financial assistanceaward made to the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

Minimum/Required
- MA/MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or related field
- Enrolled in a PhD Counseling Education & Supervision from aCACREP-accredited program (not applicable if PhD already obtained,see highly desired/preferred qualifications
- Licensed or license-eligible as a licensed professional counselor in the state of Wisconsin
Highly Desired/Preferred
- PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from aCACREP-accredited program
- Two years’ clinical experience post-graduation from MS/MAcounseling program
- Evidence of successfully teaching in person and online
- Demonstrated ability to teach CMHC or closely related courses
- Familiarity with curriculum development
- Evidence of meaningful involvement in at least one CACREPaccreditation/re-accreditation process
- Ability to collaborate and develop partnerships across campusand in the community
- Assist with the development of the CMHC curriculum and program for online instruction
- Work closely with involved stakeholders to ensure the CMHCcurriculum and program meet CACREP standards
- Engage in clinical practicum and internship site recruitment
- Teach in-person and/or online CMHC or related courses (e.g.,Orientation to CMHC, Group Dynamics, Testing and Assessment,Diagnosis and Treatment, etc.)
