This person is responsible for developing, underwriting, structuring, and closing new agriculture and commercial loans, as well as maintaining and servicing an agricultural/commercial loan portfolio. Can manage a pipeline and cross-sell other bank products. Represent the bank in its market area through active participation in community events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Manage and grow a portfolio of agricultural and commercial customers. This individual will be expected to dedicate time outside the office monthly to sales calls and prospecting new business.
- Works closely with Analysts to evaluate financial information of current and potential customers.
- Works closely with loan processors on document preparation, processing and check disbursal. Reviews work to ensure accuracy.
- Presents completed loan documents to customers and discusses any relevant issues, loan terms and/or conditions with customers.
- Maintains current loan information files. Prepares letters and notices relating to loans. May prepare loan reports for Bank and regulatory authorities.
- Regular visits with agricultural and business customers to maintain and reinforce positive relationships and cultivate future lending.
- Responsible for activities related to credit cards.
- Responsible for collection activities relating to loans and overdrafts. Contact customers to determine the reason for a past due condition and assists them to bring their account(s) current.
- Counsel customers with financial challenges to determine alternative courses of action. May prepare notices to cure default(s), summons or complaints, voluntary surrenders, docket judgments. May request relevant financial disclosures, garnishments, account histories, etc. May attend court hearings when necessary.
- Keep up to date on lending laws, rules and regulations. Recommend loan policy changes.
- Provide excellent customer service and cross sell other bank products based on need of customer.
- Support the bank and the lending team by participating in community/bank-sponsored events.
- Participate in appropriate organizations and clubs to grow professionally and develop a strong professional network.
- Support the bank’s Community Reinvestment Act program.
- Participate in weekly loan meetings.
- Individual will have knowledge of SBA and FSA loans.
- Other duties as assigned by Bank management.
Requirements include associate or bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field along with 5 years of positive current lending experience. Intermediate computer skills, typing, 10-key, Word, Excel and math skills are required. Excellent problem-solving skills and working knowledge of various loan products and services a must. Ability to read and analyze financial statements, ratios, and tax returns is essential as well as excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, strong attention to detail and uphold confidentiality.
