CNC Lathe Machinist

This role focuses on programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes to produce precision parts using Mori Seiki equipment. You will read and interpret blueprints, determine required materials, and ensure parts meet specifications while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Program CNC lathes to produce parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Set up CNC lathes, including installing tooling, adjusting offsets, and verifying machine readiness for production.
  • Operate CNC lathes to run production parts, monitoring performance and making adjustments as needed to maintain quality.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to determine job requirements, materials needed, and the sequence of operations.
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances during production to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Work with Mori Seiki lathes and related equipment to complete machining tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot basic machining issues and adjust programs or setups to improve accuracy and throughput.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize jobs and meet production schedules.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow established safety procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience programming CNC lathes.
  • Proficiency in setting up CNC lathes, including tooling, offsets, and fixtures.
  • Ability to operate CNC lathes for production work.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills, including the ability to interpret dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements.
  • Experience with CNC machining processes.
  • Ability to read and understand job travelers or work instructions.
  • Familiarity with Mori Seiki lathes or similar CNC lathe equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with both lathe and mill operations.
  • Experience in CNC programming beyond basic edits.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once trained.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing machining training and skill development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for resolving machining and setup issues.

Work Environment

This position is on second shift with flexible scheduling options. You can work either four 10-hour days or a five-day schedule, with start times as early as 12:00 p.m. or as late as 4:00 p.m., followed by a 10-hour shift. You will work primarily on Mori Seiki CNC lathes in a machining environment that emphasizes safety, precision, and teamwork. The facility supports ongoing training and development, and the schedule flexibility allows you to align your work hours with your personal needs.

This is a Permanent position based out of Menomonie, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $83200.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
