Position OverviewAndrews Osborne Academy seeks a passionate, dynamic, and experienced educator to join our English Department as a Secondary English Teacher . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English literature and composition, a deep commitment to student growth, and the ability to work effectively with students of diverse academic and cultural backgrounds. Integrate the development of reading comprehension, advanced analytical writing, grammar, and public speaking skills.
This is a full-time, 10-month faculty position.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Curriculum:
Teach core Middle and /or Upper School English courses, which may include courses between grades 6-12, including honors, AP, and potentially College Level / CCP. Diverse Learning Support:
Differentiate instruction to support various learning styles and academic needs, particularly for international boarding students navigating a wide range of English language proficiencies.
Assessment & Feedback:
Utilize diverse formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student growth, encourage self-reflection, and measure critical thinking.
Collaboration & Community:
Engage actively in the life of the school by participating in department meetings, collaborating on vertical curriculum mapping, and supporting cross-curricular initiatives.
Residential & Extracurricular Contribution:
Depending on candidates' backgrounds and interests, additional duties may include advising student organizations, coaching athletics, or participating in the school's vibrant residential/boarding life program.
Weekend Responsibilities :
All Middle and Upper School Teaching faculty are required to complete weekend duty assigned.
A Bachelor’s degree in English, English Education, or a closely related field is required (a Master’s degree is highly preferred).
A valid Ohio Teaching License or the ability to acquire an Ohio Permanent Non-Tax Teaching Certificate.
Demonstrated experience teaching English at the high school or college level.
Experience or training in teaching English Language Learners (ELL/ESL) is a significant plus.
Familiarity with 21st-century instructional technologies, blended learning strategies, and writing platforms
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a collaborative spirit.
A strong commitment to fostering empathy, inclusion, and global awareness within a diverse student body.
A strong commitment to the Academy and a desire and passion for a school with both day and boarding students.
